From the recording Tides of Memory (깃털의 흐름)
A cinematic ethereal ballad about remembrance, release, and the quiet way the past returns through air. Soft ambient textures, distant motion, and breath — like melancholy open a space where old names, fading seasons, and unspoken love begin to move again. “When the Wind Remembers (바람이 기억할 때)” is about those moments when the past does not return loudly — it returns gently, almost tenderly, and that is what makes it hurt even more. In this song, I wanted to describe what it feels like when a memory comes back through something as soft as air. Not as a wound reopening, but as a voice brushing against me so lightly that I almost doubt it is there — until I feel my whole heart listening. Sometimes I think the wind remembers things that I tried to place quietly inside myself. Faces. Names. Certain evenings. The version of me that once loved without knowing how deeply that love would remain. And when those memories return, they do not ask for permission. They simply move through me, and I have no choice but to feel them again. What makes this song fragile is that the wind does not come as destruction. It comes like mercy. Like something invisible that knows I am still carrying what I never fully said out loud. It gathers the forgotten parts of me and lays them gently at my feet, as if to say: this, too, is still yours. I wanted this piece to feel like standing still while something unseen moves through my chest — not violently, but with impossible intimacy. It is a song about how memory can ache without cruelty. About how being haunted is not always dark. And about how even sorrow can arrive in a form so soft that it almost feels like love.
„When the Wind Remembers (바람이 기억할 때)“ erzählt von jenen Momenten, in denen die Vergangenheit nicht laut zurückkehrt — sondern leise, fast zärtlich. An Gesichter. An Namen. An bestimmte Abende.
Lyrics
The wind
began to blow again,
bringing back
the faces
I had forgotten.
Whispering
through the quiet room,
their voices
knew my name.
In the silent night,
that breath
whispered softly:
“Let go.
It’s okay now.”
Every falling leaf
remembers
a moment
I once loved.
Every leaf
that falls
remembers
who I was.
The wind
brings memory back
and lets me
breathe again.
The storm
was never anger —
it was grace.
In the quiet night,
the wind spoke
with a voice
that could not
be erased.
Fading echoes
draw me
home again.
Like a falling leaf,
I drift away —
and finally
breathe again.
The wind
did not
break me.
It did not
tear me apart.
It only
set me free.
Now I am
weightless
inside
its memory.
