From the recording Window to the World (창문 너머 세상)
"Letters from the Sea (바다에서 온 편지)". At the edge of Jogashima, Etsurakami stands with the wind moving softly through her hair. The waves repeat what cannot be spoken. Behind her, her grandmother’s house holds warmth, memory, and the quiet absence that remains. Here, time does not pass — it settles. Her grandfather’s presence lingers in the air, in the silence, in the rhythm of the sea. Writing begins here, not to preserve the past, but to answer it. Each word becomes a letter — unsent, yet somehow received.
From her diary: The sea does not ask anything of me. It just stays. Sometimes I think that is why I can breathe here. The wind touches everything without trying to keep it. Maybe that is what memory is. Not holding on. Not letting go. Just returning in another form.
„Letters from the Sea
Lyrics
In the wind
of a quiet island,
a little house
still remembers you.
The sea,
scented with seaweed,
still carries
your gentle laugh.
The sea still whispers …
in your voice.
That teacup,
that page I marked,
soaks my heart
like a letter
left in the rain.
Letters from the sea —
I feel them
without reading.
Memories brushing
my fingertips,
words carried
on the wind.
I write
with the tide,
so you’ll know
I’m still listening.
Sitting
at the edge
of the cliffs,
I write a story
that’s only mine.
The words
I never said to you
now gently ride
the waves.
In Grandma’s hands,
the seasons
still breathe softly.
And in her warmth,
I never lose
my way.
I write —
not to forget,
but to remember you
completely.
